Photography

I got into photography when I found my then-girlfriend's (she's now my wife) Nikon D7000 in a drawer. It was big and clunky and scary, but I managed to learn how to use it pretty quickly. I then bought a Sony RX100 III because every tech youtuber was raving about it at the time. Eventually, I got myself a used Nikon D5600 with a big zoom lens for wildlife photography. Shooting birds is something special to me, as my grandfather and my father are both very passionate about birds. They taught me a lot about them, so to be able to capture photos of and, in a way, create art based around birds means a lot to me.

Even though I mainly shoot birds and wildlife, I also enjoy landscapes, black & white, product, and other styles of photography.

While it is nice being versatile, it means I carry several lenses everywhere I go. In the beginning, I used to feel overwhelmed by all the possibilities - imagine shooting a bird, which requires a zoom lens, but there's a nice sunset at the same time, so you pull out the wide-angle, and then you notice your partner looks good at golden hour, so you quickly mount the portrait lens... It can be hard!

As I got more experienced, I learned to focus (haha😋) on only one lens per session. This meant that I'd miss some shots on other focal lengths, but at the same time, I could fully concentrate on getting the most out of the lens I had on my camera.
